Canadian temporary visa and work permit regulations for HR professionals, -
" How to bring selected foreign employees legally into Canada".

A strong Canadian economy and shortage of middle level to high level skilled workers across Canada in different industries, has compelled the Canadian government to design regulations that permit Canadian companies to recruit workers from out side Canada.

On the other hand, HR professionals who are responsible for recruiting employees for Canadian companies are not fully aware of these regulations, as historically, international recruitment was out side the preview of small and medium size Canadian companies. Study curriculums of the Association of HR Professionals and University of Toronto, that offer courses in Human Resources, do not include this topic since it is a very new aspect in HR professional practice i.e. international recruitment.

In view of the above, our firm has developed a three - six hour seminar schedule on the subject, namely,

'Canadian Immigration Regulations for HR Professionals - How to bring selected foreign employees legally into Canada'.

This seminar will provide detailed understanding regarding the fundamentals of government policy, process and procedure involved in bringing foreign employees into Canada who have been selected by an employer, be it a small time company or multinational company.

Topics covered in this PART 1 of the seminar / presentation are:

1. Introduction to immigration regulations.

2. Differences between permanent and temporary work visa.

3. Brief introduction to permanent immigration and PNP program.

4. Defining Temporary visa / Work permit / Employment Authorization with respect to foreign employees.

5. Which categories of foreign employees can work in Canada without government approval?

6. How can Canadian companies obtain HRDC approval or Labor Market Opinion for hiring a foreign employee?

7. What criteria does a company need to satisfy in order to obtain HRDC approval and why?

8. How to prepare a job offer for a foreign employee and what salary to offer?

9. Establishing company strategy and process for recruiting foreign employees.

10. How to recruit foreign employees without any cost.

What you will learn in this seminar:

- Fundamental understanding of the Canadian immigration regulations in general, difference between temporary work visa and permanent immigration to Canada and how the system works.

- Detailed understanding of the legal process involved in recruiting foreign workers, latest positive changes in the government policy that allows Canadian companies to recruit MORE foreign workers.

- How to apply for HRDC job validation / labor market opinion and foreign worker's work permit.

- Implementation of foreign recruitment policy within the company, what companies can do and need to do to obtain HRDC (Human Resources Development Canada) job validation / labor market opinion to recruit foreign workers.

- Writing a job offer letter to a foreign worker, what salary to offer to a foreign worker and from where to find appropriate salary figures for the foreign worker's job offer.

- List of occupations under which Canadian companies can bring foreign workers into Canada without work permit and/ or HRDC labor market opinion.

Objective of this seminar is to make HR professionals and other decision makers within the company aware of the government's foreign worker recruitment policies that have become quite liberal lately. Knowledge of these policies and procedures can help these companies to recruit foreign workers without encountering too much bureaucratic red tape in order to fill the labor shortage within the company that cannot be filled due to lack of suitable candidates within Canada.
